We strive to provide the latest technology by continually updating our skills to benefit the patient as well as for personal and professional growth.
Our optometrists can evaluate and detect other health concerns such as dry eye, glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and MS.
How Well Can Your Child See?
Proud supporter of
Eye See…Eye Learn!
The Eye See…Eye Learn® Program is a public health initiative in Canada designed to detect and address vision problems in young children, particularly those entering kindergarten. The program aims to ensure that children have the visual ability required to succeed in school.
Eye Exams
Our comprehensive eye exam offers a complete eye health exam including intraocular pressures, retinal imaging, and a thorough consultation with an optometrist.
With the comprehensive exam our optometrist is able to assess and diagnose eye health and related systemic conditions including glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular signs of hypertension, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, dry eye and all other eye diseases.
Our eye exams are all performed using ophthalmic instruments including the Auto-refractor, Tonometer, and a Canon Retinal Imaging Instrument. This technology helps the doctor monitor eye health and diagnose potential eye health and general health concerns. The doctor checks the digital image for signs of Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes, as well as other health conditions.
It is recommended that children (0-18) have an annual eye exam to check overall eye health and how vision is progressing while they grow. This exam is covered by Alberta Health Benefits. Adults (19-64) should have an eye exam every two years, unless otherwise stated by your optometrist or you have any vision/ eye health concerns. This exam is not covered by Alberta Health Benefits but may be covered by insurance companies. Seniors (65+) are recommended to have an annual eye exam and are once again covered by Alberta Health Benefits.
If at any time you are having additional eye health or vision problems we always welcome you to come in and see one of our optometrists. Medical eye problems (i.e. eye infections, foreign objects in eyes, red, and/or sore eyes, etc.) are covered by Alberta Health Benefits as long as you have an active Alberta Health Care Number.
Dilations
For patients who need to have further assessments completed we have the option of pupil dilations, which will allow the optometrist to get an optimal view of the internal structures of your eyes. Dilations can last a few hours and tend to make your eyes light sensitive. For this reason we request that you bring sunglasses to wear when you leave.
Visual Field
Any patients requiring a driver’s report for class 1-5 we have a visual field machine that can be used to test your peripheral vision. The Government of Alberta is now requiring this to be performed anytime you need to have a report filled out by your optometrist. This test can also be used to test progression of glaucoma and other eye health issues.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
We also preform retinal imaging with our OCT machine. This allows us to more detailed scan of the macula and optic nerve. For patients at risk or being treated for Macular Degeneration and glaucoma the OCT scan can be used to track the changes that can occur over time.
Laser Refractive Surgery Consultations
Patients who are interested in Laser eye surgery, we offer a consultation and evaluation with one of our optometrists. After this if you decide Laser surgery is the right choice for you, we will refer you to a specialist and offer follow up appointments to ensure your eyes are healing properly as well as answer any questions or concerns that may arise.
